A review of the competition by Victoria Neild:
On Thursday 5th May, Lily, Anna and I visited UEA to partake in a regional Chemistry Analyst Competition, with the winners going on to the National Competition.

After a nice early start, we arrived eager to explore the University Campus and ready to broaden our knowledge and further our chemistry interests. The competition involved completing 3 experiments about the composition of Coca Cola by using university style equipment- determining the mass of Caffeine present in 330ml, the concentration of phosphoric acid in the drink and the sugar content. It was a beautiful, sunny day and so during our lunch break, we explored the campus. With its amazing lakes and grassland areas for the students to explore, the whole day was extremely insightful into the campus lifestyle at UEA. To top off an exciting and fascinating day, we placed 2nd in the competition, beating schools such as Hills Road Sixth Form, but sadly falling closely short of winning. The day was interesting, enjoyable and definitely worthwhile. I would recommend it to anyone thinking of pursuing a science or chemistry in the future.
