On Friday 29 November Darcey Bussell DBE, former ballet dancer and Strictly Come Dancing judge, came to Stephen Perse with DDMIX (Diverse Dance Mix), her dance fitness event for schools.
Years 3-6 from across 7 local schools joined our Rosedale House and Dame Bradbury's pupils to come together to get up on their feet and enjoy exercise. This certainly was the case at this event as all the schools were bursting with excitement to perform the dance that they had been practising in preparation for the day. The genres of dance ranged from Arabic, Japanese and 1980's styles and each school enthusiastically performed their routines and cheered on the other schools. As Darcey went to deliberate the winning school, the pupils got involved and created their own dance moves with the rest of the DDMIX team.
Upon return, Darcey announced that St Lawrence Catholic Primary School were the lucky winners of the event for their line dance performance. Well done to St Lawrence as well as all of the other local schools who excitedly took part with us.
