This trip is linked to the theme ‘Chocolate Heaven’. The pupils will view exhibitions and films about the origins of chocolate and its journey to Europe. They will learn about the beginnings of the Cadbury business and see how it has developed through the years. There will be an opportunity to take a look behind the scenes in the packaging zone, sample some liquid chocolate and watch chocolatiers demonstrate traditional chocolate making skills. Finally the pupils will have a talk on the design aspects of marketing chocolate products, focusing on target markets, packaging and unique selling points.

Year 3 pupils are looking forward to their introductory session on the Nature Reserve at Latham Road, as part of their science topic on plant studies. 3A visit is 23 April and 3Alpha visit is April 24.

The three day residential trip to Burwell House is one of the highlights of Year 4. As well as putting recently acquired geographical skills to good use, the pupils willparticipate in team building challenges and have the opportunity to take responsibility for themselves, whilst living and learning away from the familiar environments of home and school.

Photography Club members will have the opportunity to see their entries in this exhibition, along with others in both children’s and adults’ classes.

During this four day residential trip our Y6 pupils will be based in a chateau in Lower Normandy. The activities will provide them with a fantastic opportunity to put their French into practice and to see for themselves some very well-known sites, including Le Tapisserie de Bayeux, Arromanches 360 Cinema, Musée de Debarquement and Le Mont Saint Michel.

This concert gives our Y5 & Y6 pupils the opportunity to showcase their talents as solo performers. They successfully auditioned for their places in the concert before Easter.

Speech pupils in Y4-Y6 have been working hard towards their LAMDA exams. Y4 take Speaking Verse & Prose Grade 1, Y5 take Speaking in Public Grade 1, Y6 take Speaking Verse & Prose Grade 2.

Parents of Y1 pupils in both City and Madingley Pre-Preps are warmly invited to this information meeting to meet key members of Junior School staff and find out about transition from Y2 to Y3 in 2019.

Y3-Y6 pupils are given guidance and practice opportunities, in preparation for their end of year assessments in English, Maths and Science.

We celebrate Sikhism with our SPF friends in a Sikhism Day at Madingley. The children will enjoy and experience activities aimed at developing their understanding of the world by focusing on principles and practices of the Sikh faith.

Mr Lee works in the world of museum operations and scientific communications and will talk to our Prep pupils about what his job involves. 

This talk will be an opportunity to learn about the upcoming residential trip, the staff that are accompanying the children as well as the activities that are planned.

The Junior Maths Challenge is run by the UK Mathematics Trust. It is generally aimed for pupils aged 11 - 13 years, and is open to all our Y5 & 6 pupils.This will take place within maths lessons. 

Year 1 and Year 2 will be spending some time in our local green space to complement their current topic of “Let’s Play!”

Julian will be talking with our Prep pupils about his work as an author and about how they can develop as writers. There will also be a chance to buy one of Julian’s books.

The Dame Bradbury's Rock Bands will take to the stage to perform one song live in front of an enthusiastic audience.

The whole school will join with Player House in raising money for St. Elizabeth’s, a school, college and residential care home for young people who have epilepsy and other complex needs.

Our friends from Madingley and City Pre-Preps will be joining us for this walk around Saffron Walden looking for numbers and shapes!

Professor Simon Baron-Cohen, Britain's leading expert on autism gives a talk about his latest research. No registration required, just turn up on the day! Simon Baron-Cohen is Professor of Developmental Psychopathology, University of Cambridge and Fellow at Trinity College, Cambridge.
There will also be a Q & A sessions after the talk.

The examinations will take place from 9am to 12noon in the Octagon, Senior School.

An introduction to the UCAS personal statement for L6.

Dr Sue Jones from the department of Physiology, Development & Neuroscience at the University of Cambridge will be giving a talk on her research and a day in the life of a scientist. The event is aimed at those sixth form students interested in studying neuroscience or science at university. Organised by the SPF Science Society.

Dr Rajesh Munglani who is an expert witness in law, director of the Addenbrookes pain clinic and clinical lecturer will host a societal debate on whether ‘pain relief is a human right’. Open to all interested students but especially those with  legal, philosophical, ethical and  medical interests. 

Our Lower 6th Form university guidance events continue this term focusing initially on the innovative ‘Arts and Sciences’ or ‘Liberal Arts’ degree programs now offered by an increasing number of Russell group Universities. Dr Rosa Andujar from King's College will be presenting and answering questions in an event encompassing other local colleges. Students attending have permission to be off timetable for Lesson 5.

We will be hosting the third of our interactive workshops with Dr Julian Sheather from the British Medical Association. Our series of cross curricular events organised by the medical society are designed to engage all those with any level of  legal, philosophical, ethical, medical or general interests. Dr Sheather,  who also works with Medicines sans frontiers,  will this time focus on ‘moral dilemmas in medical and humanitarian practice’.
