Throughout the academic year, Year 6 explore a variety of themes that are woven into their everyday lessons. These themes help to explore wider concepts or events alongside normal lesson plans. In the Autumn term Year 6 looked at the theme 'Sticks and Stones'.

As part of their ‘Sticks and Stones’ theme, Year 6 read the wartime novel 'Billy the Kid' by Michael Morpurgo.

Year 6 were asked to imagine that they were Billy, writing a letter to Joe, telling him about what Joe has missed since he died.

Year 6 were asked to imagine that they were Billy, writing a letter to his brother Joe, telling him about what Joe has missed since he died.

As part of their ‘Sticks and Stones’ theme, Year 6 read ’Billy the Kid’ by Michael Morpurgo. Year 6 were asked to think like the main character, Billy, and write a letter to Billy's deceased brother Joe.

Every year the 27 January marks Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) – a day to commemorate the millions of victims of the Holocaust and those killed in genocides around the world. It's also a day to educate younger generations on these events so that they can be inspired to take action and create a safer world for the future.

The boarding house is quieter than usual this term due to lockdown but for those students still present, boarding life is continuing as close to normal as possible. 

Despite the pandemic and the restrictions that this has imposed, Rosemary Tice (Geography and Biology teacher, 1965-1990) and Katie Milne (Junior School teacher, 1979-2006 and then Head of Junior School 2006 - 2019) marked the 140th birthday of the Foundation by organising the delivery of a hyacinth.

Year 8 pupil Theo has been announced as one of the runner ups in the 'Best Community Contributor' category in the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) See Differently Awards 2020.

In the last week of November, our Year 10, 11 and 12 casts gave truly fabulous final performances of their extracts of ‘Little Shop of Horrors’. We are so, so proud of all the performers, musicians, crew and creatives who have worked with such enthusiasm throughout this challenging term and who have together achieved such amazing results. 

The final performances were an absolute joy to watch!
