On 13 November Dr Guy Sutton, director of Medical Biology Interactive and honorary consultant assistant professor at the University of Nottingham Medical School, came to give a talk to our psychology and biology students.

On Monday 11 November, a group of ten Year 5 pupils spent the day in the splendid setting of Old Buckenham Hall School in Suffolk, for their annual Girls’ STEM Olympiad. In two teams of five, along with others representing several schools, they faced a series of challenges in Science, Maths, ICT and Engineering.
Children in Year 5 where treated to a visit by local magistrate (and parent) Mrs Sarah Rumsby as part of their work on Crime and Punishment this term.
Social responsibility was at the forefront recently as pupils at Dame Bradbury’s supported the charity ‘Link to Hope’ again this year. Children brought in a wrapped shoebox filled with a number of essential gifts to send to families in Eastern Europe.
Our Madingley Year 1 and 2s visited the Fitzwilliam Museum this half term. They focused on sculptures and participated in a workshop. Children learnt about 'what is a sculpture' and looked out for differences between realistic and abstract ones. They also learnt about the use of different materials in sculpture. At the end of the workshop, pupils made their own sculpture using pipes, bottle tops, feathers, strings and tubes.
The residents of Manorcourt care home came for their termly visit to DB’s, a much looked forward to visit for all parties.

On Tuesday 5th November, Year 4 students from Rosedale House joined those at Dame Bradbury’s for a collaboration day based on our current thematic learning ‘The Colours of History.’
Awe and wonder for the magnificence of the church building were much in evidence when Year 3 enjoyed an informative visit to St Mary’s Church as part of their religious studies.
